Literature Text

The raven haired male has been almost the first thing you would see the weeks that followed the first time. Upon these unplanned meetings, you had learned that Law works as a heart surgeon and lived on his own with a white dog named Bepo. The dog would be housed at a friend’s house, named Penguin, when Law worked and he could only hope the latter would care for his dog better than he did now. Law had rolled his eyes many times when you would mention the situation he was in with his friend and the white Samoyed breed, making you laugh softly as he did. The returning smirk stayed hidden as you quickly turned your head away before he would notice any trace of pink dusting your cheeks.

Several weeks had passed since then. Several weeks without the raven haired male accompanying you on your travels. Several weeks without the complaining, the hidden smiles and soft chuckles. Somehow, it felt cold, empty as you looked up at the door of the bus and still no male in sight. With a sigh, you would enter the busy vehicle and smile softly at the driver. A driver who looked like he might fall asleep as soon as his lids fell shut. (e/c) coloured eyes looked up and down to find an unoccupied spot nearby.

No such luck.

‘Maybe luck had run out on me once again.’ You raised your hand and grabbed the bar to keep standing upright, your face facing the front of the bus. Voices tuned in and out as you let your own eyes close slightly, your own sleep overrunning you suddenly. The strap of your bag slid down, hanging on your bend elbow. Vrooming of the bus grew louder as the bus started to move forward, only to come to a sudden stop, making you jerk forward to the floor. Your bag swung slowly forward and back as you moved your right foot to keep your balance. Everyone’s attention was on the driver before the door opened for someone to enter.

A black spotted hat hold down on raven hair with slender fingers, that was the first thing you noticed as the last person of the stop set foot inside of the bus, panting slightly. His lips moved to a silent thanks as he passed the driver. Grey eyes lifted from the floor and after flitting around for a seat, landed on your face. A small smile adorned your lips as Law manoeuvred through the other people and came to a halt in front of you. His hand, former holding down his spotted hat, raised further to hold the bar above his head. He gave you a nod as recognition before a yawn escaped his thin lips quietly.

“Sorry, didn’t bring any coffee with me.” You said, your head tilting to the side as you felt your blood rush up to your face. He just looked so damn cute when he’s tired. (e/c) eyes left his grey ones, landing back on a sleeping woman you somehow recognise from sometime back.

“That’s alright. I didn’t bring any hot cacao myself.” He smirked before he stifled a yawn behind the palm of his other hand. Giving him a sheepish smile you leaned on your left foot, hanging a bit on the bar above you.

“I think I might have needed something stronger than that this morning.” You commented with a yawn of your own, thinking about the test you are going to do today. The bag started to feel heavy with the books you had to carry around. Law hummed softly, letting his eyes roam over your face. Somehow, you felt another connection with him. Both sleepdeprived. Ironic. “Shouldn’t you be more awake before you go into surgery? Wouldn’t want you as my surgeon any time soon.” You grinned, making him chuckle lowly at your comment. ‘Sexy. Oh frick, don’t fall for him now, (y/n).’ Heat started to appear on your cheeks. If you weren’t that drowsy, someone might have noticed the redness of your skin.

“Don’t jinx it, (y/n)-ya. Wouldn’t want your pretty face getting hurt in an accident.”

“P-pretty?” If the blush wasn’t already there, it would be burning through your skin now. Quickly you averted your eyes from the male, searching for something else to talk about as you looked outside. The houses blurred as the bus driver accelerated a bit more. Trees were lines as you drove past them. “So..” You started, your finger scratching your cheeks sheepishly. “How’s.. your bed?” ‘Wow. That just has to be the best subject you could pick. Why didn’t you ask about his dog? That was less awkward.’

“Soft. Want to feel it yourself?”

‘You see that red light? Yeah, you put it to shame now.’ Sputtering your answer, you looked up at him, seeing his smirk on his face. With a groan you shoved his shoulders. “Stop teasing. It’s too early~.” Law merely shrugged his shoulders, leaning his head against his hanging arm. His own grey eyes started to wander and you took that as a signal that your morning-banter was done for.

“Any tests upcoming?”

“What are you? My mom?”

“Just answer the question, (y/n)-ya.” Law grumbled. Maybe he wasn’t a morning-person without his usual coffee.

“Today.” You said with a sigh.

“I see.” He whispered, eyes going back to your face, wandering over it before resting right under your own (e/c) ones. “You’ve been studying the whole night again?” A pained expression flashed over your face, tiredness exposed to the outside world as it was mirrored in your eyes. “I take that as a yes.” His left hand rested on your head, pushing it down just a little bit. “You can do it, (y/n)-ya. I believe in you.”

“Thanks, Law. You’re sentimental when you’re tired.”

Law laughed shortly. “And don’t you know it.”

“No.” You deadpanned, looking at him unimpressed. Law cocked a brow and only smirked, pinching your nose shortly. The next stop was announced. Some people were shuffling softly, saying an excuse in a whisper as they pushed themselves around to get to the door. A horrible screech filled the tinned vehicle you stood in. As you wanted to turn your head to look over your shoulder what had caused the commotion, you were pushed in your back. Eyes widened as you were falling forward. Fingers curled in the fabric of a soft jacket. An arm was wrapped around your middle, holding you up and your face met the chest of the raven-haired male you were talking with.

“Oi! Watch where you’re going.” Law growled at the person who sped off out of the door. “You okay, (y/n)-ya?”

‘I could get used to this… NO! Bad, (y/n).’ You gently pushed yourself away from him and hummed your answer, looking up in his eyes before smiling at him. “No broken bones for you to fix.” You joked, making him sigh with a mix of a smirk and grin.

“Lucky me. Wouldn’t want a patient like you. You’re horrible.”

“HEY! That’s mean, you know?” You grinned, hitting his shoulder with the palm of your hand a couple of times before he caught your wrist.

Law’s face came closer as he leaned forward, holding your gaze steadily. The colour of his eyes was like a storm, changing with every blow of wind. Specks of gold like glitter hidden behind the clouds like the sun on a rainy day. It started to enchant you and you looked at him with your lips slightly parted. “I know.” He whispered near your ear, his eyes still focused on you from the corner of his eye. A shiver ran down your spine.

Another ding rang through the bus and you were relieved this was your stop. Law’s teasing made your heart race. Your skin started to crave for him, for his simple touches he provided you with sometimes. You all but jumped out of the bus and turned around to watch the bus drive off, leaving you on the pavement on your own, taking away the one person you had started to refer to as a friend. Your only friend. And that was going to get destroyed if you’re going to think of him as more.

‘Oh boy, I have it hard.’ With slumped shoulders, you started to stalk off towards the campus. A dreadful feeling started to build in your being.

‘I think I’ll just hate this day.’
So, finally I have finished this..
